Who’s Casuela?

Benjamín Sepúlveda (a.k.a. Casuela) is a multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and producer born in the Chilean Patagonia, now based in Stockholm, Sweden. His sound fuses Latin American rhythms with modern electronic textures and live instrumentation. This unique blend transports his audience into a musical dimension where organic and digital worlds collide.

Benjamín started playing violin when he was 7 years old. At the age of 9, he switched to electric guitar and has never stopped composing. During high school, he was part of different bands, playing original and cover songs.

His first approach to music production was in 2016, when he got his first audio interface and started learning how to use different DAWs, programming drums, and mixing.

In 2020, he started digging into electronic music, and the idea of mixing organic and digital elements came into his mind. Since then, he has been shaping this concept, sampling everyday sounds, memes, and discovering new ways to extract reality and transform it into sound.

The core inspiration of his approach comes from the mundane and the absurd—a way to cope with modernity and social constructs.

One of the building blocks of Casuela’s sound is his “guerrilla” approach to creative pursuits. In his words: “You do what you can with what you have. Nothing will be perfect, but that doesn’t mean it’s not beautiful or relevant.”

Benjamín has studied and taken music courses at Berklee College of Music, Casa Sonido, Guitar Dojo Chile, Academia Fabián Ruiz, PUC de Chile, among others.
